Main Purpose of the Job:

  • Providing insightful financial and commercial analysis and business partnering to support value added decision-making;
  • Leading financial reporting, planning and forecasting for the market;
  • Ensuring optimal return on investment of A&P, Trade Investment and Trade Discount;
  • Safeguarding company assets through robust processes and controls;
  • Understanding and managing local financial and legal risks; and
  • Improving operational effectiveness and process (working with other functions as necessary).

Scope of Responsibilities

  • Commercial Financial Analysis & Business Partnering (weighting 40%)
    • Maintain a close understanding of the business drivers and financial performance of the business unit.
    • Enhance the quality of fact-based decision making, by reporting and analyzing financial and commercial data and making recommendations to management.
    • Evaluate commercial options and investment choices, with value-added recommendations on which course to pursue.
    • Analyze and make recommendations on the financial viability of new products and check the corresponding price structures.
    • Control and optimize the A&PTI investment (see below).
    • Help to determine, measure and report KPI's, to ensure we are on track to achieve our strategic imperatives.
  • Reporting, Planning & Forecasting (weighting 20%)
    • Coordinate the annual Budget, Re-forecasts and the 5-year Strategic Plan for Myanmar.
    • Assist in coordinating sales forecasts with marketing, sales and production to ensure our planning is effective to meet the business needs. Work closely with the SEADM Demand Manager to achieve this.
    • Monitor stock levels (at warehouse and in transit). Act as a key contact person between ABF Thailand and DKSH Logistics, to ensure swift communication and resolution of supply issues.
    • Provide periodic on-time reporting and conduct necessary variation analysis and commentary.
  • Financial Control & Compliance (weighting 20%)
    • Work closely with SEADM Finance Controller to ensure proper internal control mechanisms are implemented to safeguard Company's assets and resources. This includes ensuring adherence to the ABF Financial Control Framework.
    • The focus of financial control will be on monitoring Advertising, Promotion, Trade Investment and Overhead spending, as well as FX settlement process, claimed through the Distributor. It includes tracking such expenditure to the budget/forecast, to ensure any over- or under- spends are promptly communicated to management.
    • Monitor financial risks within the organization and communicate risks and opportunities effectively to manage expectation.
    • Review and make recommendations to improve the operational and financial effectiveness and processes, working closely with the SEADM FC.
    • Help to coordinate external and internal audits to meet ABF requirements.
  • ​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​APTID & TD Evaluation & Effectiveness​​​​​​​ (weighting 20%)
    • Embed an 'ROI culture' in the Myanmar organisation.
    • Work with sales and marketing to pre- and post- evaluate all key investments of Advertising, Promotions and Trade Spend, and ensure that learning is captured to improve future activities.
    • Ensure that activities are set up in a way which allows their effectiveness to be measured.
    • Lead input into decision making - particularly around which activities create the best return.

  • Education
    • Bachelors degree (or higher) from a recognised higher education institution
    • Qualified accountant with recognized qualification (ACCA or CPA)

  • Experience
    • Minimum 6 years working experience in Finance function with multinational employers.
    • Multinational FMCG experience is highly desirable.
    • Demonstrable commercial finance experience including business partnering.
    • Previous experience in planning, reporting and financial control

    • Strong interpersonal skills - ability to develop relationships and influence at senior levels and across international borders
    • Understands, has aptitude for, and is enthused by, both commercial business realities and the underlying business controls

    • Excellent communication and presentation skills, able to make the complex simple
    • Fluent English (both written and spoken).
